Worn Spanish Reale Coin Fragment – A Maritime Collectible

This fragment of a Spanish Reale, minted as a Cob in Mexico, comes from the 1715 Plate Fleet of Nueva España, a fleet devastated by a hurricane along the Florida coastline in 1715.

Acquired by Wayne in 2001 at auctions in New York City while staying at the historic Roosevelt Hotel, this piece offers collectors a rare connection to the storied history of shipwreck treasure.

Details:

  • Weight: 0.96 grams

  • The silver fragment is broken and well-worn, making it unreadable. The original coin would have featured the iconic Hapsburg Shield, a hallmark of its era.

  • Encased in a protective plastic container.

Additional Inclusions:

  • A photocopy of the 1715 Fleet summary, provided in 2001.

  • A Certificate of Authenticity, including the item ID number (as shown in the image).

This pure silver relic from the infamous 1715 Treasure Fleet is a remarkable artifact for collectors, encapsulating a piece of maritime history.

Automatic Bid icon
Automatic Bid

When a bid is placed, this is the maximum amount a person is willing to bid for the product. Our system will then automatically bid on behalf of the bidder, incrementally increasing the bid up to the maximum to maintain their position as the highest bidder.

When there is an icon indicating 'Automatic Bid', it means our system is actively placing bids for the bidder based on their maximum bid. This may appear as if bidders are outbidding themselves, but it's simply a result of the system updating the bid to reflect the bidders maximum limit.

Audit

The Coin Sheriff program allows our members to request an audit on any product, which is completed by an independent Numismatic Specialist who assesses the accuracy of the item description and pictures.
