Verified Sellers Listing Rules

All Verified Sellers must adhere to the Listing Guide when submitting items for sale on Coins Auctioned.

The following website specific rules have been introduced by the Treasures Auctions Network to uphold the high standard of the products in our marketplace. These rules are in place to ensure that our customers can view consistent listings and understand exactly what is being offered for sale or auction.

What can I sell on Coins Auctioned?

The aim of Coins Auctioned is to be an open and honest place for buyers, sellers, collectors, and dealers to thrive. For this to be possible, respectful behaviour is paramount. Accurate and honest listings of the following are welcome.

• Coins, from ancient to modern currency.

• Paper Money, including modern Polymer issues.

• Bullion: Bars, coins, rounds and grain of Gold, Silver, Platinum and Palladium

• Books and Publications relating to Coins and Paper Money.

• Coin and Paper Money Storage: Envelopes, slabs, capsules albums and cabinets.

• Coin and Paper Money Accessories: Gloves, cloths, cleaners, conservatives, magnification and other related supplies.

• Gold Nuggets, these were often amongst the earliest forms of currency.

• Coin Art: Genuine carved coins and Hobo Nickels, Sculpture and artwork featuring or inspired by Coins and Paper Money.

• Coin Jewellery.

• Banking Ephemera: From Coin holders to coin scales, money bags to coin weights. A category for everything associated with the world of currency. Specific categories may be added as demand requires it.

• Ancient Coins or Artifacts if they comply with local and international laws and regulations*

* The Trade in Antiquities is governed by a number of national, and international laws and regulations. The 1970 UNESCO Convention relating to the illicit trade in antiquities is a worldwide set of rules dedicated to halting the illegal trafficking of cultural objects and antiquities. In addition, there are often regulations relating to how an object is acquired, especially if found for example in the UK The Treasure Act.

Throughout history many nations, rulers and regimes have come and gone, many of which persecuted certain groups of society, race, or creed. Whereas Coins Auctioned do not condone or glorify these regimes, we recognise that they are an important part of history, not to be ignored or forgotten. Coins, Paper Money and Currency from these periods can be listed and offered for sale (subject to local laws), but they must be listed sympathetically and respectfully, if not they will be removed. E.g. Third Reich Coin, 1942 not Nazi Coin 1942. This is a very important part of history that must not be forgotten and must be treated with respect.

What can’t I sell on Coins Auctioned?

• Fake, Replica or Copies including modern, unofficial, “re-strikes” of old coins.

• Imitations or reproductions of Coin Art or Hobo Nickels.

• Anything that contravenes applicable laws.

• Ancient Coins or Artifacts that do not comply with local any international Treasure and Antiquities regulations.

• Anything that contravenes the terms and conditions of Coins-Auctioned.com.

Which category do I list under?

Lots must be listed under Country/Territory then by type, Coin/Paper Money and if applicable denomination. If you can’t find the category you are looking for, please reach out to support as it may be possible to create it.

E.g. United States - US Coins - US Dimes

or Australia – Australian Paper Money - Australian $100

Specific to Bullion products

All Bullion products (Coins, Bars, Rounds & Grain) of Gold, Silver, Platinum and Palladium should be listed in the Bullion category. There is a separate category for Perth Mint that is not within the bullion category.

Categories for other, world class, bullion makers and mints may be opened up. Bullion should be listed by metal, type and weight as the examples below:

• e.g. Bullion – Gold Bullion – Gold Bullion Bars - 1 Ounce

• or Bullion – Silver Bullion – Silver Bullion Coins

• Silver rounds (no legal status as currency) should not be listed as Coins.

Description Guidelines

• Ensure all descriptions are accurate and list the applicable details of the item being sold. As a minimum include the country of issue, denomination, date of issue, material (silver, bronze) and fineness (916/1000 22ct gold etc.), dimensions, weight and notes of the condition, with particular attention to damage.

• Include standard reference numbers where possible such as “KM” or “Pick” numbers. More specialist references for particular countries or types are also welcomed.

• Do not include external links to websites outside of coins-auctioned.com, this may result in your listing being removed.

• Keep descriptions concise only adding extra information, such as information about a specific country or ruler, when it is highly relevant.

• When listing a book or other reference material, include whether it is new or pre-owned. The same is required for accessories.

Picture and Video Guidelines

A good picture is worth a thousand words. It’s worth investing some time in your pictures as they are the first thing a potential buyer sees. It’s very important that they are true to the item being photographed.

• Make sure all pictures are well lit and in focus. Manual focus may work better if using a dSLR or bridge camera.

• Keep your pictures as true to life as possible with minimal processing. Subtle adjustments to brightness is a normal process in product photography. Over enhancement of pictures will damage your seller reputation.

• Crop pictures to a square format as this is the default on Coins-Auctioned.com. The object should fill around 70% of the frame as minimum.

• Make sure to have at least 2 pictures, one of the Obverse and one of the Reverse. Additional pictures of details relating to varieties, mint marks, errors, special milling/edges or other specific details are highly recommended. A photograph taken at an angle for Coins or Paper Money can show surface lustre very nicely.

• Do not include any text, branding or other marking in the images.

• Stock photos are not generally permitted, the only exception is for brand new pieces being sourced directly from a mint. Stock photos often damage a seller’s reputation.

• Videos should not include sound unless they include a commentary on the item being sold.

• Videos should follow similar guidelines to photographs in all applicable aspects.

• All pictures must be your own and not taken from another seller or source.

General Listing Guidelines

• At time of listing, all details including photos and photos of any required paperwork if applicable, must be included.

• No placeholder, awaiting listing, pre-sale or coming soon auctions/listings are permitted.

• No store advertising auctions/listings are permitted.

• Private auctions must run for a period of 7 days or less and must be removed if not sold immediately.

• Item specifics must be accurately filled in as far as possible.

• Do not insert logos, external links, HTML or anything other than plain text into the description box.

• When listing a parcel/collection/lot, fill in the system dimension field as the dimensions of the largest piece in the listing and mention this in the description “Dimensions are for the largest piece”.

Some Other Points

• Make sure you fill out your store details as completely as possible, including the “About Me” and logo sections. Buyers like to know who they are buying from.
  

• You can create templates in your shop for listings. These offer a quick way to list an item in a consistent way. Make sure you adjust any fields that are required.
  

• Catalogue or Buy it Now listings renew, at no extra charge, until sold or closed.
  

• No Reserve Auction listings close when the selected time expires, either with a sale if there are bids, or just closing if there are no bids.
  

• Auctions with a Reserve Price will either;

  • Relist for the number of times you’ve specified when listing if the Reserve Price isn’t met and it doesn’t sell.

  • Or will be sold to the highest bidder the listing duration ends and the bidding exceeds the Reserve Price.
