European coins have a fascinating history for coin collectors as many Colonial countries had powerful coinage that helped in their trade, from

Spanish 8 Reale silver coins that were transported from South American mints by the millions .these were made from plundered silver and made in Mints of Peru and Bolivia and transported to Spain by ship and today many of these coins are salvaged from ship wrecks.

Austria was a strong trading country and has famous re strike the 1780 Theresa Silver Thaler trade coin.

This coin was so popular as trade coin that millions were printed and after Emperors death the date was left the same 1780.

It was the only European coin that Arabs and Persians trusted in trade and also Africa trusted this coin.

It is estimated that there are over 800 million of these silver coins minted.

Today Austria still produces top silver coins as 100 schilling and famous Philharmonics one ounce silver coin is regarded as one of the worlds best silver coin

Greece and Rome are re known for their ancient coins as they produced millions and today silver and gold coins are well sought after by coin collectors.

Holland traded as Dutch East Indies company and traded the famous duit coin and Gold Ducat coins of Netherlands.

France traded with the famous rooster gold coin and minted coins for its colonies in indo china Caribbean and pacific and even produced copper rooster coins for its colonies

Germany has issued coins for hundreds of years also as was made up of states originally before the Mark was introduced in 1871

Prussia ,Hungary ,Bulgaria were all strong trading nations in 16-18th centuries.

Over time Europe has been reined by several different Empires including:

·Spain which had various monachs namely the Kings of the Visigoths, Suebi Kings of Gallaecia, Kings of Asturias, Kings of Aragon, Kings of Castile, Kings of Leon and the Kings of Navarre.

·Austria’s House of Hapsburg was an important royal house to Europe and is best known as supplying all of the formally elected Holy Roman Emperors between 1452 and 1740, as well as rulers of Spain and the Austrian Empire.

· The monarchs of France ruled, first as kings and later as emperors but this was only the Bonapartes people, from the Middle Ages to 1870. There is some disagreement as to when France came into existence. The earliest date would be the establishment of the Merovingian Frankish kingdom by Clovis I in 486 with the defeat of Syagrius, the last Roman official in Gaul.

· After gaining independence from the Ottoman Empire early in the nineteenth century, Greece became a monarchy ruled by representatives of several European royal houses. Domestic politics and relations with neighbour states began a pattern of persistent turmoil.

· England became a united state in the year 927 and takes its name from the Angles, one of the Germanic tribes who settled there during the 5th and 6th centuries. It has had a significant cultural and legal impact on the wider world being the place of origin of the English language, the Church of England, and English law, which forms the basis of the common law legal systems of countries around the world.

A lot of coins that have originated from Europe bare a head of a leader depicting the current state of parliament to the public. Also a lot of countries in Europe are known to have their current coat of arms on the reverse of a coin portraying how strong the country is.
