The US had base at Camp Cable which is about hours drive to Brisbane
Official records state camp active from 1942 to 1945
But local records show a contingent of over 200 us servicemen were stationed here in 1939

This site is now about to be lost to housing subdivision and live grenades have also been found and the area is now closed off to the public
