Julia Domna- the daughter of Bassinius, the high Priest of the cult of the sun God Baal at Emesa in Syria. She was beautiful and highly intelligent. She married Septimus Severus between AD 185-87 and bore him two sons Caracalla and Geta. She had an enormous impact on the intellectual development of the Empire. After the murder of her son Greta by his sibling Caracalla, she committed suicide by starvation.
