Discover Australia is a magnificent collector coin program from the historic Perth Mint. Scheduled for release between 2006 and 2008, the program comprises pure gold, silver and platinum proof coins depicting Australia's amazing fauna, landmarks and flora.

This 2008-dated coin is struck from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality.

Landmarks Theme – Brisbane

The coin’s reverse symbolises Brisbane.  Founded in 1825 and named in honour of the sixth Governor of New South Wales, the notorious convict colony attracted free settlers from the late 1830’s onwards.  Proclaimed the capital of Queensland in 1859, it is one of Australia’s fastest growing and most progressive cities.

Coloured Reverse Design

The reverse design depicts Story Bridge, which links Kangaroo Point with the city centre on the other side of the Brisbane River.  As well as a blue-coloured sky, the design also incorporates The Perth Mint's traditional ‘P’ mintmark and the year-date. 

Australian Legal Tender

Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965 , the coin depicts Ian Rank-Broadley's effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on its obverse.

Uniquely Australian Packaging

The coin is housed in a superb presentation case with a lid made from Australian sheoak timber. The case comes in a protective outer shipper featuring Discover Australia's distinctive logo.

Numbered Certificate of Authenticity

The coin is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
