This 1 oz Silver Somalian Elephant Coin — manufactured at the Bavarian State Mint in Germany — is now available at Provident Metals. Struck with one ounce of .999 fine silver, the 1 oz Somalian Elephant is ideal for both investors and collectors.
The Bavarian State Mint has been producing coinage since 1158, and the Somalian African Elephant coins since 2004. The mintage of the 2004 1 oz Silver Elephant was 5,000; this has grown in subsequent years to 130,000. The Bavarian State Mint has exclusive rights to produce the Somalian African Elephants coins, which also serve as legal tender in the Somali Republic.
The Silver Somali African Elephant coins feature a new design each year. The reverse of the 2015 coin carries two Elephants wandering across the African Savannah. Trees and birds are visible in the background. “AFRICAN WILDLIFE,” “ELEPHANT” and “1 oz Ag 999” are inscribed around the image of the elephants.
The obverse features two leopards straddling a shield with a star printed at its center. Two crossing palm fronds and lances appear underneath the design along with a draped ribbon. Inscriptions include the coin’s date, denomination and “SOMALI REPUBLIC.”

Why are users outbidding themselves?
When a bid is placed, this is the maximum amount a person is willing to bid for the product. Our system will then automatically bid on behalf of the bidder, incrementally increasing the bid up to the maximum to maintain their position as the highest bidder.
When there is an icon indicating 'Automatic Bid', it means our system is actively placing bids for the bidder based on their maximum bid. This may appear as if bidders are outbidding themselves, but it's simply a result of the system updating the bid to reflect the bidders maximum limit.
