The standard weight of these pieces was 48 to the pound avoirdupois (1/3 ounce or 145.8 grains).
1902 reverse die varieties:
Pennies struck early in 1902 used the same reverse die as the veiled head Victoria issue.
This was slightly changed during 1902, resulting in the low tide and normal tide varieties.
