Coloured Reverse Design

The reverse symbolises the return each evening of Little Penguins from the sea to their sand dune burrows on Phillip Island. The design, which features coloured rocks in the background, includes the year-date and The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark.

Australian Legal Tender

Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965 , the coin depicts Ian Rank-Broadley’s effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on its obverse.
