Australian Legal Tender The coins are issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965 . King Brown Snake Design With Colour The coin’s reverse depicts a unique interpretation of a king brown snake – a highly venomous snake often found in Australia’s mulga woodlands. The design is enhanced with a coloured representation of the landscape. Created by Indigenous Artist Darryl Bellotti Designs for the three-year Dreaming Series have been created by Darryl Bellotti, The Perth Mint’s Indigenous artist. Read more about Darryl Bellotti . HM Queen Elizabeth II Obverse The obverse of each coin bears the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Extremely Limited Mintage The Perth Mint will release no more than 1,000 1/2oz platinum coins and 2,500 1/10oz platinum coins. Numbered Certificate of Authenticity Each coin is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity. The Dreaming Series is the latest chapter in The Perth Mint’s prestigious Discover Australia coin program depicting iconic aspects of Australian wildlife, landscape and culture. Scheduled for release between 2009 and 2011, the beautiful new series comprises pure gold, silver and platinum proof coins depicting Indigenous designer Darryl Bellotti’s unique interpretations of 15 Australian animals.
