Set of Four, Antique Brass Ounce Cup Weights.
A nice set of Victorian Troy Oz cup weights to include 1, 2, 3 and 5 Troy Ozs.
These are a British Made set that were marked as legal for trade within the reign of Queen Victoria. These have been recertified in 1915, 1935, 1945, 1954, and 1956. The markings include the Crowned VR and GR, but not an ER mark even though recertified in Queen Elizabeth II's reign.
They show evidence of how the weight would have been finely tuned such as a slight hollowing of the base for the 5oz, lead infill on the 3oz and filing away on the 1oz & 2oz.
As Troy Oz were the designated unit for weighing precious metals, this would have been their use along with smaller, plate like weights and a balance.
A bit of a rarity and in pretty good condition. Weights of this type with VR marks are not common.
These would no longer be suitable for trade within the UK, but would look great in a coin or bullion collection. This is being sold as a collectible item.
For international orders, all applicable import, duty and tax fees are the responsibility of the buyer.
