WIKIPEADIA INFORMATION
Collectible Barber coins
All Barber Coinage saw very heavy and long term use in daily commerce and, consequentially, most surviving examples are heavily worn, this is especially true of the Quarters and Half Dollars. It is frequently said by collectors and dealers that Barber Coinage is full of condition rarities, that is, coins which are very scarce in higher grades. A good example of this is the 1901-S Quarter, which is the most valuable regular issue Barber coin. As such even extremely worn specimens are worth thousands of dollars and are frequently submitted for third party grading. Of the 566 1901-S Quarters graded by PCGS 488, or 86% of them grade below fine, and 224 or 40% of those examples graded were below Good. Barber Coinage in the so-called "Mid Grades" of Fine through Extremely Fine can be very challenging to locate indeed, with some otherwise common coins such as the 1892 Philadelphia Half Dollar having populations in VF of less than 10 coins at PCGS. [2]
Dimes:
The Barber Dime series includes the mammoth rarity, the 1894-S is one of the most valuable coins ever produced by the United States. Only 24 were produced. Of those, only nine remain, one of which sold for $1.9 million in 2007.[3] However the 1894-S Dime is considered to be a Proof strike, as such the most valuable business strike Dime is the 1895-O
Quarters:
In addition to the general scarcity of most any Barber design in grades above Very Good, there are three "Stoppers" or coins which are extremely rare and valuable in the Barber Quarter series. The "3 Keys" to the series are the 1896-S, 1901-S and 1913-S. The 1901-S is by far the most valuable having a value of $5,500 in Good-4, quickly rising to $17,500 in Fine-12 as of 12/13/09 in Fine-12 [4]
Half Dollars:
The Barber Half dollars are, like all coins in the series, challenging to find in higher grades. There is no immensely expensive key date in the series, the most valuable date being the 1904-S. However a very small number of 1892 Halves minted in New Orleans were made from dies which used a Mint Mark punch originally intended for Quarter Dollar dies, these are known as the 1892-O "Micro O" and are extremely valuable with less than 60 known to exist.
Mint State Perfect Un-circulated (MS-70) Mint state un-circulated coin in perfect condition, showing no traces of wear, and no blemishes, scratches, handling or contact with other coins. The best quality coin possible.
Choice (Gem) Un-circulated (MS-65-69) An above average un-circulated coin which retains all of the original mint brilliance or luster, and has a very few contact marks on the surface or rim, which are barely noticeable.
Brilliant Un-circulated or BU (MS-60-64) An un-circulated coin having no traces of wear but which has a few contact marks, surface spotting or lacks some of its original luster.
Choice About Un-circulated (AU-55 & 58)
A coin having very light wear on only the highest points of the design but no other defects and with most of its luster remaining.
About Un-circulated (AU-50) Coin has evidence of light wear on many of the high points but at least half of the mint luster is still present.
Extremely Fine (EF-40)
The coin design is lightly worn in most places but all the features remain sharp and well defined.
Choice Very Fine (VF-30)
Light even wear on the surface and highest parts of the design but most major features and the lettering are sharp.
Very Fine (VF-20)
Minor features such as some of the finer hair detail, feathers, etc. will be moderately worn. Shows moderate wear on high points of design. All major details are clear.
Fine (F-12)
Moderate to considerable even wear over most features and the lettering. A lot of the details are worn through but you can still see a good deal of the design.
Very Good (VG-8)
The entire design is weak, but a few details are visible. Well worn throughout but coin rims still visible.
Good (G-4)
Heavily worn but design and legend still visible although quite weak in spots. Many details are gone.
About Good (AG-3)
Very heavily worn with portions of lettering, date and legends worn smooth and barely discernable.

Zašto korisnici nadmašuju same sebe?
