Widows Mite is one of the most historical coin of all times.

It was the lowest denomination coin that excited during and before Christs life time.

Mite was made from copper, and  was so crudely made and so long in circulation that most Mites are well worn to even completely smooth

Mark 12:41-44

41 Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts.

42 But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, together worth less than a penny.

43 Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others.

44 They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”

Widow Mite coins are assumed to be the Lepton and Prutah coin as these were the lowest valued coins during these times and made during King of Judaea from 103 to 76 B.C and were in circulation in the first century.

Many mites had anchor upside down as this was to represent an anchor ready to drop into the sea.
