Poland, 1 Grosz, 2005, Blocked Die ERROR.
Country: Poland
Denomination: 1 Grosz
Monarch: N/A
Year: 2005
Material/Fineness: Manganese Brass
Grade: VF, with bright and dark spots.
Mint: Mint of Poland, Warsaw, Poland
Mintage: 375,000,000 (all varieties)
Weight Approx: 1.6g
Diameter Approx: 15.5mm
Thickness Approx: 1.2mm
Y# 276
Schön# 282
ParM# 701
Fischer Po# OB124
Additional Notes: An unusual little coin, with a blocked die error. The "5" in the date is very faint and was struck this way. When dirt, grease or other material gets stuck in a minting die, not all parts of the design come out. There is a brightness in the "5" area, but I suspect that's from someone giving it a rub to see the details more clearly than anything sinister. I've seen a few of these over the years and although not as valuable as some of the more impressive errors, it's a nice thing to have.
All coin gradings are my own and I would strongly suggest that you study the images carefully as they are an integral part of this listing.
Thank you for looking and please have a look around my shops. Buy more listings and pay one postage fee.
