In 2014, The Perth Mint’s internationally renowned Australian Lunar Series II celebrates the Year of the Horse, the seventh animal in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac. Typical traits of those people born under the influence of the the horse include independence, confidence and intelligence. Lunar horse years include 1918, 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002 and 2014.

The reverse of each coin depicts two horses standing within a stylised Chinese landscape. The Chinese character for ‘horse’ and the inscription ‘Year of the Horse’ also appear in the design with The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark.
Australian Legal Tender
Issued as Australian legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, each coin’s obverse depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the year-date, the monetary denomination and the weight and fineness of each coin.

Extremely Limited Mintage
No more than 500 Kilo coins will be released worldwide. An issue limit of 8,000 1/2oz coins and 5,000 1oz coins released from each maximum mintage of 9,000 and 8,500 respectively. There will be no more than 1,000 Three-Coin Sets released. The 2oz coin within the Three-Coin Set has a maximum mintage of 2,000.
