At the heart of this 1oz silver coin sits an insert carved from jade, a stone traditionally symbolising beauty, purity and virtue in Chinese culture. It is sculpted into a representation of the Laughing Buddha, a Buddhist figure frequently represented in statues believed to bring good luck and fortune. He is portrayed atop a mound of coins on the reverse of this stunning antiqued coin in reference to his association with prosperity and abundance.
Spiritual Design
The coin’s reverse depicts the legendary Laughing Buddha sitting atop a mound of coins against a background of stylised rays of sunlight. The inscription ‘LAUGHING BUDDHA’, a patterned border and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark are also included in the design.
