Nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountain in southern Alberta, Calgary is Canada’s sixth largest city. While fur traders and voyageurs were the first whites to explore the lands, the first permanent settlement was established in 1875 when the NorthWest Mounted Police constructed Fort Calgary to protect the western plains from American whiskey traders. Agriculture and ranching became key components of the local economy, shaping the city’s cultural and social fabric for years to come. The world-famous Calgary Stampede, still held annually in July, grew from a small agricultural show and rodeo started in 1912 by four wealthy ranchers to become “the greatest outdoor show on earth.” In 1975, the Royal Canadian Mint paid tribute to the centenary of Calgary with a popular one-year-only design on that year’s silver dollar. The coin features a cowboy riding a bucking bronco with a rendition of the city to his left and the city’s famous oil wells to the right. A traditional favorite by coin collectors and “Wild West” fans alike, this coin is highly sought-after today.

Why are users outbidding themselves?

When a bid is placed, this is the maximum amount a user is willing to bid for the product. Our system will then automatically bid on that users behalf, incrementally increasing the bid to maintain their position as the highest bidder, up to the specified maximum.

When there is an icon indicating 'Auto Bid,' it means our system is actively placing bids for the user based on their maximum bid. This may appear as if users are outbidding themselves, but it's simply a result of the system updating the bid to reflect the users maximum limit.

Audit

The Coin Sheriff program allows our members to request an audit on any product, which is completed by an independent Numismatic Specialist who assesses the accuracy of the item description and pictures.
